KinoShelf is a personal film, series and anime shelf with recommendations. This page explains what we store, why, and what you can do about it. We do not sell your data, we show no ads, and we do not send your personal data to any AI service.

What we store

  • Your Google account basics: name, email address, profile picture and Google’s account id, received when you sign in with Google. We never see your Google password.
  • What you do on your shelf: titles you save, mark as seen, rate or react to, episodes you tick off, your diary, notes and the streaming services you pick.
  • Friends: invites you create or accept and your friendships. Friends can see your activity unless you turn sharing off in Settings.
  • Recommendation feedback: which suggested titles were shown to you and which you saved or dismissed, used only to improve your recommendations.

Cookies and local storage

One cookie keeps you signed in (kinoshelf.session-token, 30 days). Your browser also remembers your light or dark theme and the country you picked under Where to watch. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

Services we rely on

  • Google for sign-in.
  • Cloudflare sits in front of the site and handles your connection.
  • TMDB serves posters and images directly to your browser (image.tmdb.org), so it sees your IP address like any website you load images from.
  • YouTube (privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com) loads a trailer only when you press play.
  • Streaming Availability API is asked for links to a title on streaming services. Only the title and country are sent, nothing about you.

How long we keep it

As long as you have an account. When you delete your account, everything personal (profile, shelf, ratings, diary, friendships, feedback) is deleted immediately; server backups roll over within 30 days.

Your choices

In Settingsyou can download everything we store about you as a JSON file, turn off sharing with friends, and delete your account. Under the GDPR and Türkiye’s KVKK you can also ask us to access, correct or delete your data: write to [email protected].

Children

KinoShelf is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly store their data.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on the site before it takes effect.
